Making success of drop shipping is not one that is very easy to achieve with more than 95% of businesses employing such procedure not making it beyond the very first year. Many who have gone into it love the convenience and ease that this provides since it does not include inventory, outdated stocks and what have you. Besides the afore-mentioned benefits, drop shipping also enables one to choose as many niches as possible that one is interested in doing business in, plus the additional advantage of allowing you to be your own boss.

But if you want to earn money with this zero investment procedure (that is at least as far as the actual goods you provide to customers are concerned), then you will have to follow certain procedures to ensure you do not fall into the same mistake of many before you. But before we proceed, what is drop shipping? Simply put it is a product delivery technique where goods are not kept in stock by the retailer or seller, but are instead delivered to customers directly by the manufacturer or wholesaler after the customer orders and shipment details are made available to him or her by the retailer/seller. After which, profit made is then determined by the difference between wholesale and retail prices.

Now having said this, the first thing you need to do before setting up a drop ship enterprise like all worthwhile ventures is to carry out a market research. This will mean assessing the market to know which product is in demand, and the one, which is not. You can begin this by finding out the favorite items on Amazon and eBay. Plus, visit drop-ship forums to know what people are discussing. Next, you need to find out if the items or products shortlisted by you can be gotten from suppliers. And if you cannot reach suppliers, then try getting in touch with manufacturers.

Okay what about amount to invest? Now although it is possible to begin this business with a zero investment as far as building a website is concerned, it will be better to do more if you want to drive traffic to your site and earn money in reasonable time from drop shipping. And another thing to consider is setting up an online store. This can be done using Yahoo!, eBay, or Amazon and is easy to step-up. At the beginning you can make do with a blog to help in informing your existing and prospective customers, which can also help to advertize your products.

Finally, in addition to the foregoing it is equally necessary to promote your drop ship business on various online platforms including, but not subjected to Facebook, Twitter. I mean besides these you can also participate in online forums, comment on blogs of industry insiders, etc. And lastly, don't forget the importance of customer service in this line of business as this can make or mar you. Think and come up with ways of rewarding your loyal customers even as a small company it is not too early to do so.
